Thoughts of Love

This song...it just takes me into a humble, grateful place.
A place where I can surrender once again.

I think we can all agree that the greatest love of all is God's love for us.
Without it...where would we be?

His unconditional love boggles my mind.
Yet, I'm so grateful.
Lord, help me to get closer to You each day.

I can't think of anything...Can you?

We know that Jesus (God) gave His life willingly, but as I read Matthew 27.18, I'm noticing something I never really paid attention to before.

The people did not crucify him cause they felt he was guilty.
ENVY was the catalyst of this murder.
Sad enough, in 2012, we see much hasn't really changed. Lord have mercy.

They say we use only 10% of our brains. I believe in the Garden of Eden, they operated with 100% of the brain capacity God intended for us to have. Then came sin... Sin is worse than AIDS. Oh yes!! AIDS can only take a Christian to the grave, but sin...for ETERNITY!!!! I believe God looks at the most intelligent person on this Earth, pats him/her on the head and says, "Awww, you're so cute!!" Because it's like comparing a grain of sand to a beach.

The only way we can gain wisdom, which is beneficial in ALL things, is through a relationship with God. I really have a hard time reading different books because I always have the feeling like 'I could be reading the bible'.

Ready For Flight

You've got to listen to the Matthew 24 reading video below. It comes from The Bible Experiece and all of Jesus words are read by Blair Underwood. He's very passionate. I feel like I'm right there at Jesus' feet listening to Him.

Will I be ready for flight if Jesus came tonight? Of course as a Christian I'm quick to say "Yes!!". But there are those times when I have to really examine my heart. We know our understanding is not God's understanding. Although I think I'm ready could my heart be tainted and I be unaware. Hmmmm...let me see. Is there a name of a person or people that make my stomach turn into knots at the mention of their name?

Obedience Required

As I read through the book of Leviticus, I realize that God is a very detailed God. He gives us details for a reason. And since the garden of Eden, I realize although God gives us the power of choice, he already makes clear that disobedience comes with consequence.

Just like our own children, we need guidelines. I'm glad he didn't leave us in the dark about things such as offerings. Even though Jesus paid the price for our sins as the ultimate sacrifice, we still owe God the sacrifice of our praise. I know that praise is hard because our flesh is stubborn and self centered. So when I find my flesh feeling heavy and my hands are reluctant to go up, I know that my sacrifice is probably tainted. Anger, gossip, envy, malice and all those ungodly feelings cause our sacrifices of praise to have spots and blemishes. At that point we are unable to worship God in spirit and truth. I've had to close my eyes and wrestle many times in prayer as I'm attempting to praise. "Lord, whatever this is in my heart that is causing me to not fully submit to you take it away. Give me a clean heart in Jesus name!!" How do I know my prayers work? Depending on how deep the resentment or whatever it is I'm going through is, whether it takes a minute or the whole worship service, it usually ends in me flowing with tears and a major load/burden lifted from my spirit.

MY SIDE OF THE STREET

Being in recovery is basically a lifelong class in session. Everything turns into a lesson. At the women's candlelight meeting last night, one of the young ladies shared how no matter how well she's doing in recovery it's just not good enough for her husband. Also being a stay at home mom for the last seven years, has her feeling like she needs to put her recovery on hold to raise the kids.

I shared with her how I used to think that I was responsible for other peoples' feelings. We do what we can and that's all we can do. Our side of the street is clean. Their resentments, anger or whatever's got them all wound up, can only being changed within them. We are responsible for our own feelings. Then I told her how I was in rehab during all three of my kid's birthdays and at first I felt like a real loser. But the other ladies, my recovery sisters, help me to see that I was giving them the best gift I could...a healthy mother :)

Belief Disorder

What a way to end a chapter. Here you have the King of Kings, Lord of Lords right before your eyes, but because we can figure out the how and why of what He's doing we forfeit many miracles. I myself am guilty of a belief disorder. Especially when I'm believing for something that's been a mountain in my life for some time. My prayer is 'Lord let me understand...with Your understanding'. Let's not limit God. Let's not keep Him in a box.

His Mercy

I wish I were perfect. Unfortunately my flesh did not get saved when my spirit did. As the Word tells us there is a constant battle. I pray that God continues to help me in those areas of my life where I tend to fall short. Help me to have mercy, compassion and tolerance like He does for me. Many of us battle with anger, resentment, fear, the list goes on.

I get so mad at myself when I stumble because for 1) it shows I haven't 'mastered' that area and 2) I feel like 'I should know better' and ONCE AGAIN...I've failed. But do we ever 'master' our walk with Christ. The Word tells us the race is not given to the swift...but he who endures. So once again, I pick myself back up and continue my journey.

Great Men Follow Jesus

King followed THE KING

There's no doubt in my mind that Martin was on a crusade for Christ. Our Lord is just and so King's journey was about justice. I'm grateful to Martin for his obedience. I thank God for showing us through him that He does still work miracles.

I'm often dumbfounded by God's love for us. It's no secret that Martin Luther King Jr wasn't a saint. Neither was David, Paul and many other greats in our spiritual history. Regardless of our shortcomings, as long as we keep our eyes on Christ, He works things to His advantage. Hallelujah!!!

I take my hat off to this woman. She did would all us Christians should be able to do, stand up to evil with no fear. I mean many would say, forget it, let him have everything. She probably had insurance. But I know how it feels to get tired of the devil stepping all over you and using unsaved people to do his dirty work. I can tell this lady is a praying women. When we seek Him in private, He exalts us in public.

No Fear on FRIDAY

Everywhere you look today there are temptations to fear. Fear this, fear that. But we know that God is Love. When we walk in His love, it actually CASTS OUT the fear in our lives.

So as he sweeps us clean of fear and fear's brothers, sisters and cousins, we need to make sure we keep all doors closed that invited fear in the first place. As a Christian, no matter how much my flesh wants to, I always seem to pay a price when I watch horror movies, feed into urban myths and speak fear.We are a people of Faith not fear.

Disappearing Ink

There's nothing more irritating than going to clean out a purse or drawer and discovering that you important receipts have been written in disappearing ink. Unbelievable!!! But when I think a little longer, how many times have I given my word to a friend, a company or organization and failed to be consistent. Look at my blog!!! LOL Yeah, I can laugh at myself.

No Lasik For Me

I'm tired of limiting God. We know that by Jesus' stripes we are healed. If this were 12 AD instead of 2012, I would probably be begging on the side of the road somewhere. Eyeglasses weren't invented til 1000AD. So...with that being said...I'm praying God gives me 20/20 vision. He's able. Besides...I'd save money:)

Protected By Jesus

Pastor Obed preached about following Jesus yesterday. It reminded me of a cartoon I saw where the man complained to God about the rocks that were hitting him. But when God allowed him to see the real picture He saw Jesus getting hit by boulders. I know I'm guilty of taking Him for granted. We're like spoiled children sometimes. So used to being blessed that we start sniveling about the manna LOL.

I pray that God's presence in my life and others' lives is always more real than the 'problems' of life. I pray that every morning I wake I automatically start talking to Him and acknowledging Him first thing.

Submit Vs. Submit

Give to Get

I was on a website earlier today. Was at a portion where I had options. Once I made my decision, I pushed the submit button...nothing happened. Well my well oiled patience kicked in and I hit the submit button again like 5 times in two seconds. Still...nothing. "Why won't this thing submit!?!", I heard myself say out loud. Then something clicked inside me.

I realized at that point, that what I once thought of as negative, or maybe...let's say humbling, was more of giving something to get something back in return. When we're told to submit an application, questionaire, recipe or resume, we don't think twice because we do it with an expectation of something good. Something in our favor.

Although some women have a problem uttering the words 'honor and obey', which translate pretty much to submit, I understand that it's God's order. We are protected when we stay within His order. It's when we try to make our own rules that things start going sideways.

Sumitting makes us more availble/useful

Submitting does not necessarily mean a total surrender with no gratification or anything in return as we may think. Most of what we have in life is as a result of what we submitted. I wouldn't be in this apartment, have my bank account or my job if I hadn't submitted an application. These are all good things.Wives submitting themselves to their (Godly) husbands can only be a good thing since he is following Jesus Christ. There is nothing degrading, demeaning or condescending about our Savior

༒ Prince of the Air

I don't think it's any coincidence that many of our distractions as Christians today come through media. Radio, television, movies, video, cellular and also frequencies, that travel through the air, that effect us all around that we aren't really aware of. I've read of them affecting our minds and bodies such as radiation and microwaves.

During the church fast, I'm fasting television. Not totally!! LOL Mainly because I have a disorder called RTW (Random TV Watching) and I tend to relapse after a couple of hours and then OD. I think I'm going to limit myself to Turner Classic Movies and game shows and of course Christian television. I can still check the news and other things on the internet.

Mom's back in the day called it the
"ONE EYED MONSTER"

The Word has much to say about protecting our hearts and minds. So during my fast I plan on over dosing on the Word. I'm already off to a good start. So far I've been true to my daily readings. I can always tell the difference between me with little or no Word in me and me Spiritually PHAT!!!! Oh Yeah :)

It's funny how I know exactly when the Holy Spirit is telling me, "That's not for you!". I could be listening to a song, reading something on the internet, growing more and more angry as I think about something I shouldn't, etc. Sure enough when I don't heed that gentle reminder, I pay for it in the end. Usually in the form of PEACE. Renewing the mind for me is a DAILY thing. I think it goes hand in hand with bearing our crosses :) It's all good...Jesus takes the heaviest load<3 <3 <3

Fasting For BreakThrough

I'm excited about the fast that Destiny is doing this month. I know there are many issues in my life that need to be dealt with. But I also know that many of them require supernatural power. When it comes to the age old battle of the spirit and the flesh, I hate to admit but I think I help the flesh win most of the time by feeding it more than I do my spirit.

"Nice little spirit"

In fasts that I have taken part in before, I've had many things happen. Doors open that were once closed. Victory where I once thought I couldn't succeed. During this fast I'm looking forward to getting the strength to finally turn my back on behaviors that are hindering my relationship with God. I put them down but keep picking them back up. Also, I know during fasts I get great revelation about things in the spiritual realm and where God needs me to be in the fight. It's awesome, I'm excited and ready.

I think I'm going to do a partial no meat or dairy only fruit and veggie fast. No coffee, sugar. Only water, green tea or ginger tea. Abstaining from random tv watching will be important, I've noticed how my mood changes after watching certain things. So many shows today have spirits of covetousness, lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh. Need to get my flesh in check!! I'M READY FOR WAR!!!

LET'S DO THIS!!!!

I know that it's important that I feed myself with the word and abstain from any type of media that will grieve the Holy Spirit. So I have a few books I plan to read along with the Word during this time.

GENESIS 16 - Sarah doubting God birthing through her gave permission to Abram to mate with the maid Hagar. (Can you imagine this in 2012?!? Wow, the bible is no joke. Better than reality tv:) Hagar bears Ishmael.

GENESIS 17 - Abrams name changed to Abraham meaning father of many nations. God introduces circumcision of the flesh as an everlasting covenant. Today our hearts are to be circumcised. Sarai's name changed to Sarah. The Lord promised them a son to be named Isaac. Although Ishmael is not part of the promise, God tells them he will also be a great nation. OMG!! The thought of men to the age of 90 being circumcised the same day. OUCH!!!

SWADDLE ME LORD!!!!

As I'm sitting here preparing for my reading and becoming one with Him, I felt a restlessness that I know all too well. But as I continued to praise Him and let Him take over, I felt a calm that only He can give me. It reminded me of how I used to wrap my kids. Back then I called it 'like a burrito', LOL. Recently I realized I was swaddling. Maybe I need to pray "Swaddle me Lord!!!" throughout the day". Never thought of that. It's an awesome feeling when you're wrestling in prayer, trying to get past the flesh that wants to remind you that you... 'Didn't finish the dishes', 'Need to call this person', 'Isn't your show on?', 'What's that noise outside?', 'You didn't realize it but you have a pain in your body', 'You didn't worship enough', 'You didn't praise enough', YADA, YADA, YADA, YADA...and then...

~*~!!!BOOM!!!~*~

His peace takes over and it's like a judge banging a gavel! Order in Karla's temple!! Order!! LOL It's awesome!!! I want to have more of that. I usually pray here and there throughout the day but I want to make sure that there's a solid block of time that I'm really just concentrating on Him. I want to tithe my time in prayer also. Not driving, not cleaning, etc...Just me and Him. This blog is helping me do that:)

Proverbs 5.2 'That you may regard discretion, and that your lips may keep knowledge.' ***My study portion says: Wisdom and understanding are distinct, one from the other. Understanding is the discrimination which recognizes Wisdom. A child, not having understanding, cannot discriminate between a glass ball and a diamond.

Diamond color is a primary quality factor along with the other 4Cs of Diamond Clarity, Diamond Carat Weight, and Diamond Cut.

So, to discern between the gaudy glass of folly...

and the simple beauty of wisdom...

As of today I'm following the through the bible in a year plan with www.biblegateway.com. Old and New Testament. So I have some catchin up to do:

GENESIS 4 - What stands out for me was that although Cain knew God wanted a blood offering, he still tried to do it his way by offering fruit. I know that when I give Him something different then what He asks of me, there will be some type of consequence. Interestingly his people created the first musical instruments and also brass and iron (Gen 5.21-22)

GENESIS 5 - Have you ever heard the phrase '...old as Methuselah'? Well you'll meet him in this chapter. Lived to be 969.

GENESIS 6 - Although man became very wicked and giants roamed the land as a result of fallen angels mixing with humans, Noah found grace in God's eyes. He walked with God. He gave Noah detailed instructions for the Ark and established a covenant with him.

GENESIS 7 - I've always heard that Noah led the animals in the Ark 'two by two' but after reading Genesis 7.2, I have a different understanding: 'Of every clean beast you shall take to you by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.' Interesting!!

GENESIS 8 - I wonder why the raven didn't come back.

GENESIS 9 - All these vampire movies out today really bother me. God was really specific about man not eating animal blood. How much more human blood??? I respect the jewish cultures way of keeping their food kosher. We'd probably be a healthier society if our S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) was kosher. No pun intended...the truth sets us free. God gave us the rainbow for covenant, No More Global Floods. I think Noah is the only person I know that could get drunk and remember what happened to him. LOL (vs. 24) Too bad he got drunk, may Canaan could have avoided being cursed. God's will be done.

GENESIS 10 - Sons of Noah: Shem, Ham and Japheth. We learn about Nimrod the mighty hunter. He founded Babylon and led rebellion against God. We are given names of the sons of Japheth, Ham (father of Canaan and Cush [father of Nimrod]) and Shem.

GENESIS 11 - After the flood, the Lord wanted man to be scattered and multiply upon the earth, but man feared being scattered so they tried to band together and make a name for themselves through the Tower of Babel (vs 4) God confused their language, causing them to probably sound like they were babbling (Tower of Babel :) (Babel means confusion and is also the Hebrew name for Babylon) and scattered them around the earth like He originally intended. We are given the generations of Shem ending with Abram who eventually becomes Abraham. In verse 27, after Lot's father died there was a migration from Ur of the Chaldees into Canaan land. Sarai was barren.

GENESIS 12 - Abram at God's direction moved with his family to Canaan land. He tells his wife to lie and say she's his sister out of fear of the Egyptians. Pharaoh and his house were plagued because of Sarai and he called and confronted Abram.

GENESIS 13 - Abram returned back to the Alter to call on the Name of the Lord. Lot chose land near Sodom and Gomorrah. Abram remained in Canaan, tooked down his tent and built another alter.

GENESIS 14 - The kings of Sodom and Gomorrah found themselves in the middle of a battle with some foreign kings. After hearing Lot was taken, Abram took 318 men with him to help. NOW THAT'S AN ENTOURAGE!!!! Then after, Abram paid the first 'tithes' recorded in the bible to Melchizedek, Priest of the Most Hight God. Also, the king of Sodom tried to tempt Abram with 'stuff'. Abram declined cause he was a man of God.

GENESIS 15 - God told Abram he would have seed he could not number like the stars, there was a blood covenant with 5 animals (5 is the number for grace). "Unto your seed have I given this land"

Alone But Not Lonely ~ If It Had Not Been For The Lord On My Side

I've heard people in ministry say it many times, "Sometimes, you have to walk alone." The more I want to get closer to God, the more that statement rings in my head. Many times I wanna call someone and hang out, but when it comes down to it, I know we're 'Unequally Yoked'. Being unequally yoked can be like yeast. I don't want no yeast in my life unless I have a plan for baked goods :)

I cherish the fellowship I've found at my church home Destiny in Indio. When I first walked through the doors I felt an energy that was contagious. So many people smiling and GENUINELY happy I'm like, 'Yeah right!!'. But it's been about 8 months since I first started attending and the smiles remain and mine has joined! Thank you Lord for my new church home!

After reading Proverbs 4, I feel an urgency to always be wise. Choose wisdom and understanding. Pastor Obed mentioned in one of his teachings how important it is to take your time when making important decisions. Especially investments. Many times people want to rush you and make you feel under the gun because they know you're more inclined to make hasty decisions. But wisdom tells us to look at the whole matter. How will this affect us 5 years from now, not just today.

I remember living in LA, on a 101st and Vermont, da hood. Never felt scared. And it had nothing to do with the iron bars on the windows. I just always felt God's presence with me. I thank You Lord for always letting Your presence be felt

I'M PURSUING PEACE TODAY

~PSALMS 64.8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all who who see them shall flee away.~ So much hurt in this world is caused by tongues. I've gone most of my life listening to replays in my head of what someone said to me. The fiery daggers of rejection, inadequacy and abandonment. It wasn't til this year I finally realized what other people thought or said about me was none of my business. But when you're working in an office for 9 hours a day with 17 other women, sometimes it's hard to remember those little slogans. I thank God for filling my heart with songs. Every time I would go to Him with my head down about something, not only did I leave His presence with my head up but often I leave with a new song, a melody and joy in my heart. Our God is an AWESOME God!!!

I've battle depression and I'm a witness that the Word,

especially the Psalms have power to bring you out of that dark cloud

God fights our battles...they're His anyway!!

HOW MUCH DO WE LOVE HIM?

As I read this Psalm, I smile thinking of this song my mom used to sing to me based on this particular Psalm. "If it had... Not... Been... For the Lord.. ON MY SIDE.... Tell me where... Would I be...WHERE WOULD I BE???" I bet if I called her right now she would happily sing it to me. LOL No matter how much I think about my childhood with negative memories, I have to say I thank God my mom always had me in church. The Word is ingrained in me and that's the BEST HERITAGE we could ever give our children. Thank you mom!! XOXO
